The Baltimore International Seafarers’ Center was founded in 1993 by an Episcopal deacon, The Rev. Ed Munro, and his wife, Barbara Munro. In 2005, The Rev. Mary H.T. Davisson, an Episcopal priest, became the Director.
The threefold mission of the Center is to:
- Welcome seafarers to the Port of Baltimore.
- Support seafarers’ spiritual and practical well-being.
- Speak out about seafarers’ contributions and rights.
The Center is also a recipient of funds collected through the Bishop’s Annual Ministries Appeal.
St Mark’s supports this ministry year-round by collecting magazines and personal care items for the seafarers. Several parishioners volunteer their time at the center on a regular basis. During the Christmas season we prepare Christmas boxes filled with toiletries, note paper and other small items for the seafarers.
The Center is also a recipient of funds collected through the Bishop’s Annual Ministries Appeal.
